NY Times takes 13 days to correct lie about Bush’s Iraq war coalition

Yeah, only two weeks to fix. I read this when the story came out and forgot to write about it. I’m pretty certain some other bloggers pointed it out immediately after it was published, but just today the New York Times published their correction.

In short, the New York Times continues the liberal meme that the Bush administration totally went into Iraq alone when it came to the liberation of Iraq. That’s a total lie and everyone knows it. The Times’ original story included this line.

Unlike Mr. Bush in the Iraq war, Mr. Obama has sought to surround the United States with partners.

A total lie.

The published correction.

An article on Sept. 11 about President Obama’s speech to the nation describing his plans for a military campaign against the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, gave an incorrect comparison between efforts by the president to seek allies’ support for his plans and President George W. Bush’s efforts on such backing for the Iraq war. The approach Mr. Obama is taking is similar to the one Mr. Bush took; it is not the case that, “Unlike Mr. Bush in the Iraq war, Mr. Obama has sought to surround the United States with partners.”

In fact, we had more partners during the Bush administration as compared to the current Obama administration’s efforts, plus we had multiple United Nations resolutions plus we had congressional authorization.

Stop rewriting history. Just stop.
